How to Buy Property in Saudi Arabia from the UK, Step by Step

Can a British citizen buy property in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. UK citizens buy under the same rules as other foreign nationals: freehold ownership in the approved zones, registered on a government title deed. You do not need Saudi residency to buy, and you can hold the property in your personal name.

The five-step journey

End to end, the typical purchase runs about 15 weeks. The longest phase is usually legal checks and funds verification, standard for any cross-border purchase of this size.

  • •Browse verified, government-registered listings with real GBP pricing
  • •Model your numbers: purchase tax, total costs, yield and 5-year returns
  • •Book a private investor briefing to qualify goals and select opportunities
  • •Legal checks and contracts with our Saudi legal team, NAL Lawyers
  • •Complete, register your title deed and collect rental income from the UK

Documents UK investors need

Your legal team prepares the Arabic versions and notarised translations. You will not need to travel to Saudi Arabia to complete in most cases; power of attorney is used where a signature in the Kingdom is required.

  • •Valid passport (six months minimum)
  • •Proof of UK address, utility bill or bank statement within 3 months
  • •Proof of funds, bank statements or sale agreements
  • •Source-of-funds note explaining where the money came from
  • •If buying via a company: incorporation documents and structure chart

The UK side: tax and transfers

Rental income must be declared to HMRC through Self Assessment, and selling later triggers UK capital gains on the gain. Sending funds abroad is straightforward under UK rules, but your bank may ask for documentation, which we help you prepare. Our UK Tax Guide covers this in plain English.

After you buy

Management is handled on the ground: tenant finding, rent collection, maintenance and compliance. Income lands in your UK account. You receive statements and can view performance whenever you like. Book a briefing to walk through live opportunities.
